It is such a convenient location for a winter holiday.
Whether you come by car or post bus, Tschiertschen is only 20 minutes from Chur.
Tschiertschen is a real gem amongst the holiday destinations in Graubünden. An exceptionally beautiful Walser village with unspoilt landscapes, in the heart of the mountains, 1,350 metres above sea level. Far away from the hustle and bustle and commerce, and yet only 10 kilometres from Chur, the economic and cultural centre of Graubünden, it is easily reachable via a well-established mountain road. Since 1892 a popular climatic health resort – today a summer and winter sports location with exceptional features which can scarcely be found anywhere else any more.
In the seventies the whole world looked to Tschiertschen, at the time the international epicentre of ski acrobatics.
Mia Engi, three-times world champion
The Plessur valley is among one of the culturally most interesting areas of Graubünden. Outstanding Walser villages such as Praden and Tschiertschen, and beautiful old alpine summer huts, make you forget that Chur is only 10 kilometres away. The view from the hotel to the Schanfigg mountain range is unique: Simply magical.
Tschiertschen is the ideal place to relax in winter, too. No hustle and bustle, no queuing for the ski and chair lifts, no music on the slopes, tranquil village life, beautiful old wooden houses with carved mottos and consistently wonderful views of Schanfigg valley.
For cultural excursions, just 20 minutes away on the post bus, Chur offers almost everything that the heart desires: the large medieval Old Town, the Graubünden Museum of Fine Arts, the Rhaetian Museum, Graubünden Natural History Museum, art galleries, the wonderfully restored cathedral and the Bishop’s Court, the Giger Bar, the theatre in Chur and the small theatre Klibühni, open air theatre, classical concerts and jazz concerts.
The large, car-free Old Town with many private specialist shops, the colourful Saturday market, the pleasant department stores between the station and the Old Town, numerous specialised markets and the new, spacious shopping centre City West fulfil every possible wish – Chur is a premium shopping paradise. Anyone who enjoys fine dining will be drawn to the Restaurant Stern, the Basilic, the Va Bene, the Kornplatz, the Zunfthaus zur Rebleuten or the Süsswinkel.

Numerous boutiques – for exclusive fashion, shoes, jewellery, watches, gifts, sports articles, antiquities and typical Graubünden accessories – extend an invitation to a shopping spree. Every Saturday morning there is also an atmospheric market with fresh local products. Guests who prefer shopping centres can visit one of the most up-to-date – the City West, just before the motorway slip road.
