Insider tip: summer in Tschiertschen

Enjoy the mountain world, hike through the nearly untouched nature with mountain herbs and Alpine flowers. Tschiertschen is located right at the famous Schanfigger Alpine Path. Feel culinarily pampered by some local specialties, from dried meat of Grisons to the Alpine cheese. From Chur you arrive within 20 minutes at your goal, be it with your own car or by postal bus.

Tschiertschen is a real gem amongst the holiday destinations in Graubünden. An exceptionally beautiful Walser village with unspoilt landscapes, in the heart of the mountains, 1,350 metres above sea level. Far away from the hustle and bustle and commerce, and yet only 10 kilometres from Chur, the economic and cultural centre of Graubünden, it is easily reachable via a well-established mountain road. Since 1892 a popular climatic health resort – today a summer and winter sports location with exceptional features which can scarcely be found anywhere else any more.

Relax in a tranquil atmosphere

From the hotel you can see the small mountain village of Tschiertschen (Grisons). In its narrow streets with wooden houses with old blessings painted above the entrance and with many benches time seems to have stopped. Tranquility and the close nature makes you forget all the hectic of your working environment. Your head will soon be ready for new thoughts. Vacation with a long-lasting recreational value.

Discover the surroundings

For cultural excursions, just 20 minutes away on the post bus, Chur offers almost everything that the heart desires: the large medieval Old Town, the Graubünden Museum of Fine Arts, the Rhaetian Museum, Graubünden Natural History Museum, art galleries, the wonderfully restored cathedral and the Bishop’s Court, the Giger Bar, the theatre in Chur and the small theatre Klibühni, open air theatre, classical concerts and jazz concerts.

In summer, Arosa, with its range of events for tourists, can be easily and directly reached from Tschiertschen via the idyllic forest road Molinis–St. Peter–Arosa.

The Bündner Herrschaft area, often called the Burgundy of Switzerland, ranks among the best wine-growing regions for red wine north of the Alps. The vineyards are just 20 minutes by car from Tschiertschen. The picturesque wine-growing villages of Fläsch, Maienfeld, Jenins and Malans are worth visiting at any time of the year. Forty-five grape varieties flourish in the warmest wine-growing region in German-speaking Switzerland. In the wine cellars, called “Torkel” here, wines can be tasted, and along the wine ramblers’ route, guests can find out more about the production of this delicious beverage. Today, various winemakers mature their finest wines in oak barrels and secure top international awards with them.
